Life EventsWeddingsDo contact Cate as soon as possible should you wish to be married at St. Matthias church. There are a few questions that will be asked, primarily that one or other of you lives within the parish, or regularly worships at St. Matthias. Should there have also been a previous marriage, you will need to talk this through with the vicar (see the Anglican guidelines for further reference). Finally, wedding fees come in two parts; those set by the Church of England on a national level, which provides fees for the conducting of the service and legal duties involved. Up to date figures can be found at the CofE web site. To this each church adds its own fees to cover building running costs and staff. This depends on which facilities you wish to use, and are availiable from Cate. Advance notice; there will be some major building works in the body of the church next summer. BaptismsShould you wish to be baptised, or to have a child baptised, you are most welcome. Please contact Cate for further details. If you wish to find out more about baptism, do visit the CofE site. Funerals(The following is taken from the Church of England's life-events site.) "Funerals are mostly arranged by your undertaker. Should a funeral be requested at your church the arrangements will be made by them on your behalf; but if a particular member of the clergy is wanted it is usual that they are asked before other funeral arrangements are made, so as to make sure that they are free and available.
The clergy see funerals as an important part of their work. Putting aside time for visiting families, comforting those who are facing loss, finding out what service they wish to use and helping them to arrange it is part of their calling and training. If the priest did not know the deceased, it can be helpful to provide some details of their life for the address."
