Ballet SchoolWELCOME TO RICHMOND BALLET SCHOOL Richmond Ballet School celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2005, as it has been in existence in its present form since 1980 when Valerie A. Draper took over as teacher, although the school actually dates back to 1910. In 1984 the School moved to St. Matthias Church from the old Community Centre in Richmond (now Waitrose!) Students are entered for Royal Academy of Dance Graded Examinations and ISTD and IDTA Modern, Tap and Jazz examinations. Every summer the School presents its annual show involving all students - Beginners to Adult. This is great fun and teaches the dancers to perform in front of an audience in addition to learning technical details required for passing examinations. The Christmas Bazaar helps raise money for School equipment (staging, portable barres, mirrors, CD player etc.) and also provides an opportunity to demonstrate classwork in an informal manner in front of an audience. This event also incorporates the Competition and gives students the chance to choreograph and perform their own work. Throughout the year many opportunities arise for the students to further their training through workshops, demonstrations and performances which are regularly offered through the Royal Academy of Dance. For the past few years several B.Ed and Certificate in Ballet Teaching students from the Royal Academy of Dance have successfully completed their practical teaching training at the school and pupils take part in their final examinations. Valerie is an official Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance and the school continues to guide BA (Hons) degree trainee teachers through their final examinations. TIMETABLE TUESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY The times of the classes may be subject to change due to demand. Contact Valerie Draper 020 8991 1318 |
